اظهرت دراسة حديثة أن الإنسان يمكنه أن يحدد إذا كان الشخص مريض أم لا من خلال النظر إلى صورة له ملتقطة بعد ساعتين فقط من إصابته بالمرض وهذه القدرة لم تكن جزء من مهارة يتمتع بها الإنسان لتجنّب المرض، بحسب الباحثين بعد القيام بالتجربة على عدد اشخاص معين ظهر بالفعل علامات توحي بالمرض مثلا حين يكون شاحبا، أو تكون عيناه محمرتين/ أو وجهه منتفخا/ أو شفتاه مرتخيتين. وهكذا حدد المراقبون من هم الأشخاص المرضى من خلال صورهم وهذا التشخيص يساعد المرضى, في مناطق تنتشر فيها الأوبئة
